Wondering why the famous lines of “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” have been used here? While Coleridge wanted to focus on the ill-starred sailor surrounded by salty sea water, absolutely unfit to drink, the world is now staring at a very uncertain future, crippled with a severe shortage of freshwater.
On 27th March and 3rd April, KiddyPi organised World Water Day Special online events for kids and teens to raise awareness about saving freshwater. On 22nd March every year, we celebrate World Water Day. The mission is to draw everyone’s attention to the importance of freshwater, sanitation and hygiene.
We have to walk hand-in-hand with our next generation to come up with new ideas, nurture them and carry them forward to ward off the grim future, as predicted by the experts.
Friendly discussions have multiple benefits. They can give birth to innovative ideas or break the ice among discordant groups. We picked up some interesting videos on the importance of freshwater, water pollution and the scarcity of freshwater.
Lively, small-talk around the videos proved to be quite enlightening. Children are full of beans as well as imagination and wisdom (Believe me, they are!). Many of their ideas are amazingly worthy, and can be put into practical use for the larger interests of society.
Children are aware of the menacing problem of garbage thrown in and around water bodies. Plastic pollution is adding to this problem.
KiddyPi’s VR experts coded a program to offer a real-life-like experience to our participants where they could clean a place by removing the waste materials, and revive a water body. Children can learn how to code such exciting programs at KiddyPi’s newly launched Virtual Reality summer camp.
At the end of the immersive VR experience, all the participants took a pledge to become responsible citizens. One key pledge element is about throwing garbage into designated waste-bins only. In addition, they agreed to spread awareness, and we are only more than eager to offer them our creative platform.
Everytime we organise the festival-special, weekend events or summer camps, we wonder at children’s talent and potential. The World Water Day Special event was also not an exception. As small as all of 8 years old, some kids left us spellbound with their creative posters. Take a look!! Innovative poster slogans, themes, choice of colour and passion, you can get the wholesome feel here.
Expression, Creativity & Language summer camps include visual, audio, and tactile means and media to write and converse in the best way possible. It’s all about the confidence to express oneself through words, both while conversing and writing.
